It’s a good idea to use our test to check the levels are correct. Once these levels have been set you should not need to change them again. The surround speakers (usually behind the listener, should not be too loud as they are purely there to add perspective.......

Use a high quality microphone. If possible, use an external microphone. Lapel microphone either a condenser or electret.
Microphones built in to camcorders are generally low quality.....
